Description:
Rapidash is a fantastic and extremely underrated Pokemon who has only gotten better over the years. Rapidash has a fantastic physical movepool and great stats. This generation it has also gained a resistance to the fabled Fairy type and many of its moves have been gained additional usefulness, such as Poison Jab for dealing with Fairies. Along with that, Rapidash has two very good abilities in Flash Fire and Flame Body. Not all is good for Rapidash unfortunately, as it still has annoying weaknesses to Water, Ground and Rock types. However its multiple resistances, good stats and awesome movepool usually won't let you down.
Set #1: Life Orb
Rapidash @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge
- Drill Run / Low Kick
- Megahorn / Poison Jab / Bounce
Set Description:
A simple Life Orb set, Flare Blitz is your dedicated STAB move doing gnarly damage. Wild Charge is your designated way to deal with Water and Flying types that would try to stand in your way. Drill Run is a decent Ground type move that allows you to maim Steel, Rock and Fire types that would otherwise annoy you. Low Kick is another weight based option if you want a way to deal with particularly annoying Pokemon like Registeel. Megahorn is a fantastic way for you to deal with all the Psychic and Dark type Pokemon running around. If your team is having trouble with Faeries you can opt for Poison Jab instead. Bounce is a niche option but the chance to paralyze your opponent is quite nice.
Other Options:
Rapidash is one of those Pokemon that can Baton Pass agility boosts, and also has access to Will-O-Wisp, so a utility pass set is very viable. A special attacking set can also be used, however it's vastly inferior to the Physical set and it has barely any Special move options. A Choice Band set is also another possibility and can work quite well thanks to Rapidash's fantastic movepool and great speed.
