Description:
Trapinch has one niche and one niche only, using its high Attack stat in conjunction with Arena Trap. Thanks to the buff to Dark type moves (Crunch) and a massive amount of Pokemon that have descended into NU, Trapinch has only gotten better this generation. Being able to trap opponents and maim them with a powerful STAB Earthquake is a neat niche. Unfortunately he faces competition with Dugtrio, who fills the exact same role but is much faster. Trapinch however, is more powerful and has better physical moves in its arsenal. The choice is up to you, but be warned, never underestimate Trapinch or it will be your undoing.
Set #1: Choice Band Arena Trap
Trapinch @ Choice Band
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
IVs: 0 Spe
Brave Nature
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Rock Slide
- Superpower
Set Description:
Trap things that you can kill with Trapinch such as Registeel, them proceed to attack. STAB Earthquake will maim just about everything. Rock Slide will form the great EdgeQuake combo. Crunch and Superpower allow even greater coverage as well. This set is incredibly well boosted by Trick Room due to Trapinch's incredibly low speed.
Other Options:
Eviolite is another option that could help Trapinch live through some bulky attacks, or even Assault Vest. However, there really isn't that much else that Trapinch can do.
