Description:
One would wonder why anyone would use Pupitar even in the lower tiers when arguably better choices exist, but Pupitar has one niche due to a combination of its great ability Shed Skin, a perfectly adept movepool, solid offensive typing and access to Eviolite. Pupitar can set up on multiple Pokemon in NU and then proceed to sweep.
Set #1: Shed Skin Curse Rest
Pupitar @ Eviolite
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Rest
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Set Description:
The point of this set is rather simple, Curse and sweep. The reason this set works better than most is because of Pupitar's naturally high defenses thanks to Eviolite and Shed Skin. Shed Skin gives Rest a chance to end early, which allows Pupitar to wreck havoc and heal itself quickly. Stone Edge and Earthquake are your two STAB moves and provide fantastic coverage.
Other Options:
Pupitar's movepool is filled with other gems such as Dragon Dance, Crunch and other moves, however the majority of the time Pupitar is better off running his Curse set. A bulky Dragon Dance set utilizing Eviolite is possible but it takes multiple speed boosts to out-speed most of NU.
