    Description:

Regice has unfortunately always fallen short of other Pokemon in the NU tier due to its bad defensive typing and lackluster movepool, but it's gotten multiple improvements with Generation Six. The most important improvement is its access to Assault Vest, a new item that massively boosts a Pokemon's Special Defense in exchange for having the owner be permanently taunted. This allows Regice to function as the ultimate Special wall, not a single Pokemon in the game even comes close to reaching Regice's level of Special Defense with the exception of Assault Vest Shuckle who is hindered by even lower stats. Here are a few calculations to show you exactly what it can take even without HP investment

    4 SpA Heatran Lava Plume vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Regice: 66-78 (21.8 - 25.8%) -- 0.4% chance to 4HKO
    4 SpA Rotom-W Hydro Pump vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Regice: 36-43 (11.9 - 14.2%) -- possible 8HKO
    252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Regice: 58-70 (19.2 - 23.1%) -- possible 5HKO
    252 SpA Gengar Focus Blast vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Regice: 78-92 (25.8 - 30.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
    252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Regice in Sun: 182-216 (60.2 - 71.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    +1 252 SpA Genesect Flamethrower vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Regice: 80-96 (26.4 - 31.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
    252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Focus Blast vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Regice: 96-114 (31.7 - 37.7%) -- 89.4% chance to 3HKO
    252 SpA Thundurus-T Focus Blast vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Regice: 82-98 (27.1 - 32.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

As you can see, the only thing that can even 2HKO it on the Special Defense would be Charizard Y's STAB Fire Blast with a boost from the sun. However not all is good for Regice, as he has a somewhat lackluster 100 Defense, a pitiful 50 Attack (which is more upsetting because he has access to Curse and a great physical movepool), and lack of recovery outside of Rest. However if you play to Regice's strengths, it will serve your team well.

    Set #1: Assault Vest

    Regice @ Assault Vest
    Ability: Clear Body
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
    Calm Nature
    - Ice Beam
    - Thunderbolt
    - Focus Blast
    - Frost Breath / Flash Cannon / Signal Beam

    Set Description:

The set is fairly straight forward, just attack with Regice and sponge up Special attacks. Ice Beam is your designated STAB and goes well with Thunderbolt giving Boltbeam coverage. Focus Blast is to nail all the pesky Steel, Dark and Rock types that would come to cramp your game. The last slot is mostly a toss up. Frost Breath is a STAB move that always critical hits, allowing you to bypass defense boosts. Flash Cannon is a way to nail Fairies and Signal Beam is a way to nail Psychics.

    Other Options:

If you're willing to bank on getting multiple boosts, a Curse set utilizing Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, and Earthquake or Hammer Arm could possibly work, but it would require multiple boosts and would be somewhat viable thanks to his ridiculous defenses. A Choice Specs set is also viable thanks to Regice's decent coverage and defensive stats to sponge hits.
