    Description:

Beedrill has always been an unfortunately lacking Pokemon, but it's been consistently receiving small improvements over time. Generation Six has bestowed several new gifts onto our hornet friend. Beedrill is one of the few Pokemon to get a small stat boost, and luckily it was in its most relevant stat. Beedrill now has base 90 Attack. Along with this, Beedrill has received several new tools as well, such as Defog, Fell Stinger, and access to a buffed Knock Off. He also has many other good tools in his arsenal, such as access to Agility, Swords Dance, Baton Pass, Toxic Spikes, Roost and Tailwind. He also has access to many offensive moves such as Brick Break, Drill Run, U-Turn, Acrobatics and Poison Jab. To add icing on the cake, his STAB Poison nails Faeries super effectively, and he has a useful 4x resistance to Fighting types and resistances to Grass, Fairy, Poison and Bug types. Sadly not all is well for Beedrill, as his stats are decidedly mediocre even with the stat boost. His typing also gives him some annoying weaknesses to Fire, Flying, Rock and Psychic types.

    Set #1: Utility

    Beedrill @ Black Sludge
    Ability: Sniper
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
    Careful Nature
    - Toxic Spikes / Toxic
    - Roost
    - Knock Off / Tailwind / Defog
    - U-Turn

    Set Description:

This is a typical utility set, set up Toxic Spikes, or just use Toxic if you don't want to set up Hazards and Roost off any damage. You could use Knock-Off to knock the item off an opponent or you could use Tailwind to boost the speed of your whole team and U-Turn outta there. Defog is also another option if you're not using the Toxic Spikes and want a way to clear up entry hazards. The EVs capitalize on Beedrill's second best stat, Special Defense. Black Sludge is useful for nailing Pokemon who want to want to try and use Trick on your Beedrill.

    Set #2: Swords Dance

    Beedrill @ Life Orb
    Ability: Sniper
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Swords Dance
    - X-Scissor
    - Poison Jab
    - Drill Run / Knock Off / Brick Break

    Set Description:

This set is Beedrill's best way at offense, using Swords Dance to boost up your attack and then clean up the remains of your opponent's team. X-Scissor and Poison Jab are your designated STABS, nailing Psychics, Fairies and others for Super Effective damage. The last set is completely up for preference, Drill Run and Brick Break can both nail Steels and each have their own individual uses. Drill Run is preferred as it has a high critical rate and can work in tandem with Beedrill's Sniper ability. Knock Off is always a good option due to its recent buff in Generation Six.

    Other Options:

Beedrill can utilize a Baton Pass set and pass off Speed and Attack boosts using Agility and Swords Dance respectively. Also, a Fell Stinger set could be utilized to get more boosts, but even with STAB its base power is horrendously low.
