Description:
Shuckle has the highest defenses in the game, and previously he had no way of boosting his gargantuan stats. Now, there's a way. Shuckle has access to Shell Smash... and Contrary. Contrary reverses boosts, which means that Shuckle loses Attack, Special Attack and Speed... and gains one boost to both Defense and Special Defense. This turns Shuckle into an almost unbeatable wall. Along with this, Shuckle got some new toys, such as access to the buffed Knock Off and Sticky Web. Sadly not all is good for our turtle friend, as he still suffers from having terrible HP and no recovery outside of Rest. If you can look past his low HP and rise to use his massive defenses however, you'll find your opponent's team will be quite overwhelmed.
Set #1: Shell Smash
Shuckle @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Shell Smash
- Rest
- Toxic
- Power Split / Protect
Set Description:
Simple, use Shell Smash to boost defenses, Rest off damage and status, repeat the cycle. Toxic will be your main source of damage dealing. The last slot is completely up to you, you could use Power Split to completely cripple a physical opponent attempting to boost alongside Shuckle, or you could run Protect for scouting.
Other Options:
Shuckle can set up Rocks and Sticky Web, but what you have to keep in mind is that Shuckle's speed is terribly low, making him taunt bait. Power Trick can be used to nail an opponent for a surprise kill with Shuckle's decent offensive movepool on the physical side, more than likely you'd need Trick Room support however.
