Description:
Muk has always been a good Pokemon and Generation Six is no exception, giving Muk two new small buffs in the form of Power-Up Punch and the existence of faeries, meaning that Muk's STAB actually has use now. Along with this, his stats are perfectly adapted for a defensive Pokemon. Not all is good for Muk however, while his movepool is vast, he has no boosting moves outside of Curse, and no way to abuse his Special movepool properly since his Special Attack is naturally low. However if you can look past this, you'll find that Muk can be a fantastic defensive Pokemon that will wall a good majority of your foes.
Set #1: Curse
Muk @ Black Sludge
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Poison Jab / Gunk Shot
- Shadow Sneak / Power-Up Punch
- Rest / Ice Punch / Fire Punch / Thunder Punch / Power-Up Punch
Set Description:
Simply Curse, then attack. Poison Jab will be your main form of STAB, although if you can get past the accuracy issues, Gunk Shot will do far more damage. Shadow Sneak is reliable priority that has been boosted due to it now hitting Steel neutrally, although if Steels walling Muk is enough of an issue you can run Power-Up Punch instead. The final slot is up to you, Rest is a good choice to get rid of status and heal Muk, however you could run any of the elemental punches or Power-Up Punch instead.
Other Options:
A Stockpile set is another cool set, and can wall multiple threats on both sides of the spectrum. Muk's support movepool in general has some great options to deal with opponents.
