Rules of the Broken Glitch Society Empty Rules of the Broken Glitch Society

Post by DarkEnvy Thu Jun 19, 2014 3:18 pm

Hey everyone, welcome to the Broken Glitch Society! Before you start posting, I'd just like to ask you to adhere to a few simple rules. For most rules we adhere to a three strike rule, with a few exceptions.

Rule #1: No pornographic / overtly violent content of any kind (let's try to keep it PG-13 at the most). While the gaming population's main demographic is people ages 18 and above, there are still other teens and kids under the age of 18 who are as into gaming as much as we are, so let's make this an enjoyable experience for everyone. The rule speaks for itself, so no examples are needed.

First Offense: Deletion of post and warning.
Second Offense: Deletion of post and temporary ban for one week.
Third Offense: Deletion of post and permanent ban.

Rule #2: No stealing. All work posted involving strategies, graphics, music, or any other form of creativity must be your own. There's really no arguing this rule. It's downright shitty to steal something, and it shows a lack of commitment. Even if you feel something you made is bad, you'll still feel better about posting what you made instead of stealing the hard work of someone else.

First Offense: Deletion of post, temporary two week ban, and the inability to enter any forum contests for six months.
Second Offense: Deletion of post and permanent ban.

Rule #3: No trolling, hazing or flame baiting. Heated discussions are alright, discussions will get heated occasionally and it's good for people to be able to handle them. This rule is simply here to say, don't be an asshole. If you're having a discussion, be respectful. If someone isn't being respectful, tell a staff member and we'll handle it. Cussing is fine. Just don't go overboard.

Example of a heated discussion (this is ok): Man, this just pisses me the fuck off about the economic situation. Honestly do you even know what you're talking about here? Such and such measure would be extremely counterproductive to the nation.

Example of trolling (this is not ok): You're a fucking idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about, fuck you.

First Offense: Deletion of offensive material in post or the post itself + warning.
Second Offense: Deletion of offensive material in post or the post itself + temporary ban for one week.
Third Offense: Deletion of post + perma ban.

Rule #4: No advertising outside signatures. The only exceptions I'll allow for advertising in posts are Youtube channels, but please only post them when they are needed. If you made a walkthrough and want to post it on here, that's totally cool. Just don't abuse it. If you're unsure about what's okay or not okay to advertise, contact a staff member and they'll tell you what's either okay or not okay.

First Offense: Deletion of advertisement + Warning
Second Offense: Deletion of advertisement + temporary two week ban
Third Offense: Deletion of advertisement + permanent ban

Rule #5: No multiple accounts. I know this is somewhat of a controversial rule, but it's in place for multiple reasons. 1. People like to cheat by upvoting using multi-accounts in contests. 2. People like to cheat in arguments by using multi-accounts to agree with a viewpoint that the main user is propogating. 3. To circumvent bans. 4. The user has a bad rep and wants to start over. (4. I'll allow, just let me know in a private message so that I don't see matching IPs and think you're multi-counting for suspicious purposes.) 5. For RP purposes / to be the opposite gender. Guys like to pretend to be girls, and girls like to pretend to be guys. Guys more often than not pretend to be girls on the internet for attention. Girls more often than not pretend to be guys on the internet to keep attention away from them. Since this is a complex rule, it will have a complex punishment.

    If you break 1.

First Offense: Ban of said multi-count, disqualification from whatever contest you were in, six month ban from entering any contests on the forum.
Second Offense: Permanent Ban of all accounts

    If you break 2.

First Offense: Ban of said multi-count, public post on the discussion topic, indicating that you had to make a fake account to back yourself up (sometimes being put on the spot is far worse than a ban).
Second Offense: Permanent Ban of all accounts.

    If you break 3.

    First Offense: Permanent IP Ban
Second Offense: Permanent IP Proxy Ban

    If you break 4.

First Offense: I'll send you a private message to ask about your situation, if you just want a fresh start there will be no punishment. However your other account will be locked down (not banned). If you want to get into a locked down account, simply message me, and I'll unlock that one for you and lock the other one.

Second Offense: Again, I'll send you a private message, asking an explanation as to why you made an account a second time. We'll figure out an individualized solution from there.

If you break 5 and are a guy disguised as a girl.

First Offense: I will private message you asking why your gender is disguised. If it's just for attention / you deny it (I will not private message without concrete proof), I will change your gender to male, and make a post in forum announcements about your actual gender. Deceit to gain more attention is not cool. Be more confident in yourself. If you have other reasons for pretending to be a girl, we'll talk about it over private messages and go from there.

Second Offense: Again, I'll send you a private message. We'll figure out an individualized solution from there.

If you break 5 and are a girl disguised as a guy.

First Offense: Same as the first offense for guys, however since girls most likely aren't pretending to be guys for the attention, this won't be as relevant.

Second Offense: Same as second offense for guys.

Rule #6: No Warez / Hacks / Viruses. Rule is explanatory, this will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

    First Offense: Permanent IP Ban.
Second Offense: Permanent IP Proxy Ban.

Rule #7: No posting copyrighted works that are not freely available for download. For example, no posting a band's album for download, unless you're posting a link to somewhere the band has put the album up for FREE download. Posting ROM hacks / any type of modding that isn't naturally supported by the game developer is a very gray area in terms of the law, so to air on the side of caution we won't be allowing them.

First Offense: Deletion of post + warning
Second Offense: Deletion of post + temporary week ban
Third Offense: Deletion of post + permanent ban

    Have fun on the forums!

PS: If something about the rules seems off, feel free to post so in here.
